Our Recommendations
Restaurants we like within walking distance of Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center
- Fuji - One of Galen’s favorite places near his office, Fuji offers a wide variety of delicious sushi and asian plates.
- Red Bones BBQ - If you are looking for southern barbeque in Boston then this is your spot. Filling and delicious, Red Bones offers a great meal and a unique atmosphere.
- The Similans - Great thai place nearby on 1st Street in Cambridge.
For Coffee Drinkers
You can’t walk through Boston without stumbling into a Dunkin Donuts, but for those who have higher standards, check out these bean joints.
- Voltage - Voltage is located a couple blocks from Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center and mixes coffee with art.
- Equal Exchange Cafe - Located near North Station, Equal Exchange can be a great stop to taste high quality coffee produced in a fair and environmentally friendly way.
- Trident Booksellers and Cafe - Trident is on trendy Newbury Street so it’s a great place to stop for a bite and a cup before shopping.
- Ula Cafe - Ula is in Jamaica Plain, near our apartment.
For Beer Lovers
Sarah can’t stand the stuff, but Galen loves it and so do you! Check out the best that Boston has to offer at these bars and breweries.
- Sam Adams Brewery - Come to Jamaica Plain where we live to tour the Sam Adams Brewery. If you are here on Thursday night, the Brewery offers open houses.
- Meadhall - Meadhall is a favorite Cambridge spot for an after-work drink.
- Lord Hobo - Another Cambridge favorite, Lord Hobo offers tons of draft beers and specialty cocktails and some great food.
- Bukowski Tavern - This hole in the wall reminds us of college days. There are actually two locations - the one in Boston is where we used to go and the one in Cambridge is closer to where you will likely be staying. Check one or both out!
For Sweet Addicts
Most of you probably know that Sarah is a sweet lover! If you get a craving, check out these places.
- Max Brenner - Hot chocolate, milkshakes, or fondue are just a few of the sweets on the menu at Max Brenner.
- Sugar Heaven - Stop at Sugar Heaven for a take-home treat. This candy store was Sarah’s top spot for sweets during college when she worked at T.G.I. Friday’s which used to be right around the corner.
- Taza Chocolate - * Reservations Required - For those who want a more in-depth exploration of the world of sweets, check out Taza where you can tour the chocolate factory and see how chocolate is made and get free samples!
For Historians
Boston is an old city and just walking around it you will see lots of old buildings and landmarks.
- Freedom Trail - How can you talk about history in Boston and not mention the Freedom Trail! It goes right by Suffolk University Law School where Sarah lived basically for three years. Walk it all, walk a little, just stumble upon it, whatever you choose.
- King’s Chapel and Burying Ground - the oldest burying ground in Boston and a beautiful church
- Old South Meeting House - where the American Revolution gained it’s voice, the Old South Meeting House is now a museum and right in front is a placard marking the site of the Boston Massacre
- Faneuil Hall - Once a site for public gatherings, now a destination for shopping, dining and bars, Faneuil Hall has a little bit of everything. This is also where Sarah was sworn in to the Massachusetts Bar, making her a real lawyer!
- Old North Church - One if by land, two if by sea, lanterns hung in the steeple of the Old North Church marked the arrival of the British in Boston. Old North Church was a beacon to the colonists and remains the oldest surviving church in Boston.
For Sports Fans
Titletown offers so many options for sports that it is hard to pick just a few. Strike up a conversation with almost any Bostonian and you are bound to hear about the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, or Celtics. The Red Sox will be the only team playing their regular season in May, so check out tickets if you’d like to enjoy a Fenway Frank in the best ballpark in the country. Hopefully, there will be some playoff action for the Bruins and Celtics.
