Our Story
Galen and Sarah met their freshman year of high school. Each eyeing the other across the classrooms they shared. Their friends noticed and immediately began pressuring them to go to Homecoming together. Soon, Galen worked up the courage to ask Sarah to the dance and she said yes. Alas, the pressure was too much and they spent an awkward night at the dance mostly avoiding each other as teenagers who like each other are prone to do. So, instead of happily ever after, Galen spent the next few years alternately teasing or ignoring Sarah.
Finally, during Christmas break of their senior year of high school, Galen, Sarah, and bridesmaid Laura planned to attend groomsman Nick H.’s hockey game, but Laura got grounded. Galen and Sarah went without her and while driving to the game, Galen reached over and held Sarah’s hand. And, as they say, the rest is history.
Ten years after reaching his hand across the car, Galen reached into his bathing suit pocket to find a ring and proposed on a beach in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Galen surprised Sarah with the trip on Christmas Eve. They left 10 days later. She had hinted to Galen (okay, maybe it was more than a hint!) that she would really like photo or video documentation of the proposal whenever it happened. He disguised his intentions by photographing a kitesurfer out on the waves and then turned the camera around before pulling out the ring. Too bad he didn’t adjust the zoom! Needless to say, the video is horrible, but the moment was perfect. Let’s hope that the wedding photographer does a better job than Galen did when she captures another perfect moment!
